Need help upon startup

I have a CQ62. Running Windows 7. AMD CPU.

When I turn the laptop on instead of showing my the bios splash screen I get either an all black/light grey screen or I will get a screen with orange or other colors. Windows starts fine with no problems at all but for some reason whenever I turn on the laptop I get the blank or color screen so I cannot see my F2 or F12 boot options etc. Sometimes it will start off black then change orange but then laptop starts normally. Also if I hit esc it WILL take me to bios options, just doesn't show the splash screen.

Anyone see anything like this before?

Sorry forgot to mention I have updated the BIOS from the HP site successfully but still no change in the fact that it shows the grey or bright screen upon startup. I just tried changing the lcd cable and restarted it seemed to speed up the grey screen then right after it DID show the bios splash really quick but it did still however show the grey screen at first still. But that was the first startup after changing the cable so maybe I will give it another try.

I am guessing it has nothing to do with drivers since it actually does this before Windows starts?

I did also have HWMonitor running while installing programs, updates and watching a movie. Absolutely no sign of overheating.

Anything? I forgot to mention that it does sometimes show the red compaq bios screen but will first show the light black/grey screen then just flash the bios screen for a second before the Windows is starting screen. and again I am able to actually go to bios options or boot menu or f8 just doesn't always show the screen.

Sorry again lol. I keep remembering to do certain tests. Well I just hooked it up to an external monitor and it does NOT happen. BIOS shows up perfect. So considering I already changed the cable I am guessing unless both cables are broke then it must be the screen? Never seen the screen only mess up at boot, could it just be a loose connection or have you heard of a bad screen acting up like this during boot only?

I also noticed that when it's on the desktop home and I move the screen back and forth there is a green line all the way to the left going from top to bottom. Just one line? Another sign of bad connection?
