MSI 890GXM-G65 AM3 and FX-4100 cpu

So I have been messing about with upgrading the CPU in my computer..

I have a gigabyte board and after a bios update.. put the FX-6300 AMD cpu into it..

now.. being the good uncle that i am.. I gave my nephew my old cpu which is the FX-4100, he has an MSI 890GXM-G65 motherboard.. and MSI's webpage states that this motherboard CAN support this CPU with a simple bios update.. which has been done and achieved successfully.. So i popped the 4100 into his mobo and hooked everything back up.. when we power on the PC.. it just sits at a black screen, doesnt beep, doest post.. nothing.. ideas?
