hi guys!!

first of all when i start ussing win 7 the system was great and agile... but after a year, win 7 utimate 64 bit has become more and more heavy on RAM...

mi system:
phenom II 555 unlocked to B55
RAM 4GB 1600 dual channel
a refurbished HDD sata II (i dont know if this is the problem)
and other stuff (well i have a HD 7770 but the drivers are 100MB at much)

at the beggining my system with AD aware and CCC was at the start like 1.2 GB at much
now it is like 1.8 then downs at like 1.5 after the start is complete
i think the problem beggins when i decide to update WIN7... bad idea....
well i thought, for my research from here and other websites, and a guy said that the uninstalled updates storages in RAM untill you intall them... but no

as i like to play some videogames this is a serius threat cose i just have 4GB... till now my performance in games ussing game buster is the same but i think 1.8 or 1.5 GB i too much..

my brother has an i5 2500K and 1866 RAM and he doesnt does much maintenance and win7 ultimate just takes 1.1 GB O.O what tha F....?? he has never update since a year ago more or less...

other importnat thing:
when i suspend the pc and then wake it up the RAM ussage downs like 1.2GB (at the beggining tike 800MB)... and the process reduces from 71 or 73 to 65... is there a gide that shows me what services are unnecessary??

or better to reinstall win 7 stop all the updates and that stuff... ):

do you know a way to fix this?? some guide or something??

thanks!!

Your PC has very little in common with your brothers PC, a Phenom II is a couple of generations behind Sandy Bridge i5 2500k. Overall your drivers may be larger or you have installed more additional features with your drivers to allow further tweaks to your components and game software. You are hardly comparing identical twins and even if you were there would still be a difference.

Just because Windows appears to be using more RAM, do you notice any ill effects?

4GB for gaming is considered a little short for modern AAA games so if you are finding them a little slow that's what I would look to enhance 1st.
Another thing you might consider is having multiple disk drives, 1 for use for your Operating System and the other for Steam and...

hi!! i have done a research... i cant find the answer to the simple question:
how much RAM windows 7 ultimade uses?? no one knows.... does anyone knows??

but well i get tired to try to fix any software issue so i just turn off my PSU, oppened my case pull off the RAM, clean the DIMMS with a soft brush and surprise!!

my sistem now usses 1.3GB for WIN7 and start programs/apps and i think the programs themeself have reduced their "weight" as well...

so if any one have this kind of issue try to reinstall your RAM

and apologies if my english is not well enough

How much RAM Windows uses is difficult to answer. Windows isn't just 1 application or 1 service, its a multitude of applications, services and features. Most with their own dynamic methods of utilising the available RAM at any given time.

yes, and i supose that the more RAM you have the more RAM OS takes for stability ... but that doesnt answer why my bro's computer only takes 1GB while mine 1.5 just for upgrading... and most strage both have 4GB... also before upgrading it was like 1.25 or so

Trying to shrink Windows is possible by disabling services that you may not use such as WLAN AutoConfig when using a cabled LAN connection or System Restore when you have an alternate backup solution in place. However, Windows 7 is generally on top of what you do and don't use and unlike Windows XP it actively disables what isn't required or in constant use.

For me personally I've disabled things such as Hybernation, Disk Defragmenter, System Restore (I have Acronis Backup) but this is more for enhancing my SSD performance over anything else.

Go through Programs and Features, uninstall any applications or addons that you know you no longer use. Leave anything you don't recognise in case it is important. Try upgrading your drivers perhaps they have been enhanced to use RAM more efficiently.
But remember Windows will constantly grow and change with Windows Updates, including your Anti Virus package.
Sorry but there is no 1 solution to your question.

well i have a refurbished SATA II HDD... it apears to have some issues loading some pages like tom`s HW and others who has a registred log, but not, it dosnt since i fix my OC config... my HDD is a little slow to be an 7200RPM but it is ok also i will upgrade it for some seagate or toshiba SATA III with 64MB cache

is very strange this happened since i update windows... but still my system runs better than ever since the OC and since i reinstall the RAM... but even so, may be one or two of the cores are deafective from my phenom so i will upgrade with a phenom II X6... i think better than a FX 6300

and also upgrada my RAM at 8GB

all the apps and programs you disabled olnly usesso little RAM even KB i try to restore all my system and as i said fells better than ever but a lot of RAM with no objetive reason

but thanks!
