I was wondering how to create a negative pressure setup for my new computer that I'm currently picking out parts for. I would like to use Noctua NF-A14 PWM's, but I'm not sure about how many fans I should use, and in which case fan slots.

Here's the build I'm going to make:

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D ATX Full Tower Gaming Case

Why would you want negative air pressure? It allows dust to get sucked in while positive air pressure prevents dust buildup. I recommend 2x Corsair AF 120 High performance at the front with the HDD cage(s) removed or the stock fans.

Negative case pressure keeps your computer cooler than positive case pressure. Its mostly personal preference though.

all you need to do is have more fans pulling out than in or higher speed out than in

/nitpick on

On these forums we obey the laws of physics!

It is physically impossible to create negative pressure. The lowest possible pressure relative to anything is that of an absolute vacuum.

Surely you mean to create a negative pressure gradient such that the pressure inside the chassis is lower than that of the ambient environment! The relative ratio between the two will be less than one, but still positive.

Anyway, it's purely a matter of personal preference.

A high chassis pressure is nice for water-cooled machines, but that's about it. The difference is all around negligible. Airflow is far more important in an air cooled machine.
