Hi Guys,

I'm looking to build a gaming rig instead of buying a PS4. Haven't had a PC in a while, so I'm not very sure where to start. I'm practically a newb so go easy on me! :D

For background, I'm looking to use it primarily for gaming, secondary for media management (storing/playing media), and maybe a little amateur graphics/video editing. The games i would like to play are BF4, NBA 2k, and Fifa all on Ultra settings or at the least, settings comparable/better than a PS4. I'm also looking to hook the rig up to a tv and a sound system in the living room so its going to be primarily for entertainment.

My budget is around $1000. I don't mind going over if it will improve quality dramatically. I'm looking more towards value than outright performance though.

What would be a good build to start with?

If you want a small case that it is light and look like a kind of console (well kind of) I have used the COOLER MASTER ELITE 120

And I did exactly the same I sold my Xbox 360 and instead of getting one of these new media players (because that is what they are) I got myself a PC and Steam and I coulnd't be happier.

i5 + R9 270X + 8GB RAM + SDD (to summarize)
