Hi, I'm new to the forum and I have decided that I want to learn a little more about computers. Just as I have learned about everything else, I figured the the most efficient way to fully understand a computer would be to build one from scratch. From my understanding, you can build a computer for a moderate price assuming it isn't decked out with high-powered gaming CPU's and other components.

I have a couple questions:

What sources are out there for learning about computers?
How much would a basic computer build cost?
How much knowledge and skill would it take to accomplish this?

A) Internet would be a good start, just searching how to do it, pretty sure there is a sticky on this forum on how to build one. Otherwise, get a friend who has build one before to help

B) A basic computer can range from about $500-$1500 you can really vary everything, but you want to try and get most parts as even as possible in order to try not to cause bottlenecks in different places, although this is quite hard as some games/ programs use a lot more of some things than others

C) not a lot, I know if you just open up a computer lying around, even an old one, you can learn quite a lot, and if you can pull it all apart then put it back together your pretty much set. Just make sure your careful with the CPU. But its generally pretty easy, just like a big bit of lego that does a whole lot more :)
