Hey guys,

First off, this is my current build:

Corsair Carbide Series Air 540

Intel i5-4670k

Corsair H110

Corsair Vengance pro 4GB *2

MSI Z87-G45

Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB

Western Digital 1.0TB Blue

ZOTAC reference GTX 780

FSP Raider 650W PSU

I realized serious FPS drops during games such as Tombraider, metro 2033 and need for speed most wanted. I realized most of them were when there was smoke or physics particle. I ran 3dmark11 with and without the graphics card and realized my physic score was very low (below average). I am currently getting about 6000 for physics score on stock cpu and 6200 when I overclock to 4.3Ghz. When I check similar build scores, I see people are getting around 8500 for physics. What could be a possible reason that my phyiscs is so low? faulty cpu?

I do not know how to set where the physics can be calculated. I am getting around 17 fps for physics test on 3dmark firestrike extreme (stock cpu clocks) and 8 combined score. If I overlcock my cpu to 4.4, i get around 22 fps and 11 fps. I kept comparing with people with similar builds and I realized my 4670k is underperforming than most 4670 (non-k)s.

780 tems are perfectly fine. I am always keeping an eye on it during benchmarks with riva tuner. Temps dont go over 62 C. I don't understand what throttled cpu means. How do I fix this?

seems a bit low, I get 7600-8600 (physics 3Dmark11) depending on the clocks on a 3570k. Have you checked your CPU usage and core clocks during the benchmark? Have you got any power saving features holding back the CPU? Perhaps resetting the BIOS to defaults is worth a try.

A throttled CPU is usually when it gets too hot, it reduces its clocks to try to reduce power usage and thus its temperature. Worth checking your temps too, in case the cooler is not fitted correctly.

I use open hardware monitor to check these things, it gives you a graph against time too.

I have an i5 4670K @ 4.2Ghz

FIRE STRIKE
Physics Score 8412.0
Physics Test 26.7 fps

I have around 50C max temp on stock and 70C when over clocked to 4.5GHz. I have tried resetting bios through CMOS clear.

cpu is definitely not overheating

clutching as straws, but is there anything else taking CPU resources? Try checking task manager.

I always turn off unnecessary applications when taking these tests..

I have a similar problem with my 4670k, it seems to be having a lower score compared to other people, are you running windows 8?

I think win 8 might be a problem, do you have a link to an high score with win 8 ? Most of the score are from win 7 systems

here are a few examples of win 8 physics scores with 4670k, also your score is abit lower than mine, on stock mine is about 6600 physics, try to reset your MOBO bios to all default, and reseat that CPU cooler, I checked around the forums and found another problem of low cpu score was caused by improperly seated CPU cooler

the one below has 8000 physics on win 8 but its OCd to 4.7 ghz

hi,

i fix this issues with Running CCleaner, i think got to do with Registery Dll file... make sure uninstall 3Dmark13 first then install/run CCleaner then restart PC, then install 3Dmark13 it should fix Low Physics score... Or you could do hard way by Fresh install Window 7/8 Peace :)

Your gonna need an i7 quad with hyperthreading enabled for 8 threads to score high. That or a 6 core 1366 xeon with 12 threads.

The 1366 chips score very high because of the triple channel ddr3.

For instance my i7 930 @ 4.355ghz scores a 10,859 on physics. If I upgrade to a Xeon X5675 and overclock it, I could see closer to 20,000 on physics.

Hi Guys !!
I´m with the same problem but with intel i7 4790k.

The performance was nice with the factory cooler now with corsair h90 things are going down quickly !!

In my first test i achieved 9917 and now it´s on 8605.
