I have a $900 budget 8350 or 4670k?

Solution
The i5-3570k is an option. It is $210 at Newegg vs. $200 for the FX-8350 and most programs and all games will perform better with the i5-3570k. The performance difference between Ivy Bridge and Haswell is on average 6%. The only unknown cost is the motherboard which can vary in price for both AMD and Intel CPUs depending on what features you are looking for.
I think you guys are all reading this wrong. If the original poster has a budget of $900 and he's looking at either an i5 or FX-8350, that means that his budget of $900 is for a whole build, not just a CPU. If it were just for the CPU, he'd be looking at high-end i7's.

DIRISH, if your budget is $900 for the whole system, then the FX-8350 is the highest you should go. In fact, if you're building a gaming system, then you should be looking more at the FX-6300 so that you can devote more of your money to graphics.

If I'm wrong and your budget is $900 for the CPU alone, you should be looking at the i7-4930K.

Yea in that scenario, I would go with the 3570k over FX 8350 as well. FX 8320 is an option to give more money towards GPU though.
