I rebuilt windows xp a few years ago but installed to F drive, no problems until it recently stopped booting and of course is not backed up. Repair from disk isn't working and I can't copy the files off F drive isn't recognised. Any suggestions to repair or copy the files pls.

A Linux operating system can run as a Live CD without impacting on your hard disk but it will allow you access to it so you can copy your files out of the disk to an external disk. It won't repair XP but it will gie you a clean disk to reinstall. What else is on the other Partitions?

You can download PCLinuxOS from http://www.pclinuxos.com and burn it to a CD using ImgBurn, run it live from the CD and click on the filing cabinet icon at the bottom of the screen to view the hard disk.
