Hey guys this might not be the right stop but i didnt see any server threads so i decided on here i apologize if its incorrect.

Im currently building a home server and will be running Windows Home Server 2011. I have bought a 4TB WD Blue but i also have several 2TB drives no doing anything. Can i Mismatch drives or do they have to all be the same?

Assuming you're not looking for any type of RAID redundancy, you can have as many different sized hard drives installed as your motherboard will accept. A JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) array will give you one very large disk partition. Otherwise, you'll just have a large number of physical drives assigned.

Technically, the drives in a RAID array do not need to be of the same size, but I believe the additional space of the larger drive in unavailable when RAIDed with a smaller drive.
