I just started my first build so everything was purchased new. I got a Asus crosshair formula z mobo with a fx 8350 cpu. I have a 8gb ram kit from Kingston. And a gigabyte radeon r9 280x. When I hook it all up, the mobo lights up and when I push the start button I get an "FF" error and the dram led flashes and the led vga flashes. I've made sure everything is flush and tight but still no change. As this is my first build I don't have any spare parts to start swapping out to try anything else. I updated the bios and the light flashed as the manual says it is supposed to. But then get the same errors when finished. Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

1) Use a single memory module only to debug. Remove the others, and place the single module in the slot furthest from the CPU.

2) Do you have another GPU you can try just to rule out incompatibility?

3) Check the last 4 digits of the motherboard serial number, which will tell you which UEFI version your board has. You need 0806 onwards for the 8350. The USB Flashback procedure requires the UEFI file be renamed properly AND needs a FAT32 formatted flash drive. If either of those things are not correct, the light will flash for a few seconds while it tries to find the file, then it will stop without completing the flash. Thought I'd let you know that just in case the flash never took place.
