Hi People, I have researched this a bit and I know there is a number of similar threads, however I am not overly computer literate so I don't understand a lot of what has been said,
My issue is I have upgraded GPU's from Radeon 6970 to Radeon 7750. The noticeable difference is card size and the need for external power supply. The 6970 required 2 x 6 pin plugs and the 7750 does not require external power. When I swap cards pc starts, fans start but that is as far as it goes. My system specs are listed below
Motherboard: Pegatron 2AB6
Chipset: Intel Sandy Bridge
Southbridge: Intel H67
LPCIO: Fintek F71858DG
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.4 GHz
BIOS: AMI 7.08
PSU: Thermaltake 700
PCI Slot: x16 (2.0)
Memory: 8G DDR3 (2 x 4G)
The best I can come up with is that my MOBO does not dump enough power into the PCI slot to run the HD7750, so I need a card that requires external power.
If anyone could shed some light on this for me I would be very grateful.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Cheers
Mick
