I really am on a last resort here.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Mr_Outsider/saved/2sg0 my build

Around the start of October, I built my first gaming rig. It worked fine for around 5 days, but I soon started receiving a BSOD. This was fixed by updating some drivers. However these bsods kept appearing, and it escalated to the point where I just reinstalled windows 7. However, after the reinstall, I was still getting bsods. These were Irql not less or equal to, and the more frequent SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION. I also got bios is not fully acpi complaint while trying to boot into safe mode. The system service bsod's occur either at the windows logo during boot, or during login, or just after it. I have dump files, not able to link ATM, but the person who looked at them for me said it was a problem with directX, and it occurred when the graphics was being transferred, whatever that means. He said it was possible that, likely even, that it was a defective gpu.
It was suggested that I test my gpu in another comp, or use another graphics card in my system, but I am unable to do so, as I have neither a spare gpu or computer to test with.

Is this the case? I have run me test, no errors, and chckdsk. I have uninstalled and reinstall the amd drivers several times.

I guess my main question is: is this software or hardware. It took me 2 months to save for this build, and I won't be able to replace my gpu anytime soon, so I'm hoping for software.

return the GPU. or at least try with another GPU in. If your system works with a different GPU then it is likely the one you have is faulty.

I reckon that it is hardware. the fresh install of windows means it is likely hardware.

Most likely your GPU is a dud. Return it forthwith...
