So, here in Norway a 290x costs 550-600 euro. A 290 costs around 400 euro.

I have an "old" 750w Corsair TX 750w PSU that I bought back in 2008.
I will upgrade my motherboard to a socket 1155 with a i7-3770k.
The harddisks I have is: 2 Corsair SSD's in raid 0.
A old 2.gen SSD.,
Two old 1TB' HDD's.

The idea was to maybe buy a 290 now and save the 150-200 euro for later on to buy the same 290 when it comes on sale. I really like that the 290x gives a ton of umph, but the price is simply so much higher then the 290 which is also preforming really well compared to the 290x.
And with two 290 in crossfire you will get one hell of a graphic power at your disposal.

But, can I use my 750w PS for this? Or should I maybe go for one 290x for a single card experience? Or maybe just only one 290?
A new 1000w PS with modular cables costs 200 euro+.

Thanks.
Z

Your PSU will run one card, but two would be iffy. I would get that 1000W PSU if I were you. The R9-290X can use up to 295W all by itself. Now, between the two cards, I would take the R9-290. It's almost as fast as the R9-290X so the savings are more than worth it.

Thanks for the headsup.
Maybe I'll buy one R9 290 and a new PSU instead of a 290x.
And maybe in a year or so when the prices is low, I can get an other one. :)
