Hi all, got a question guys, some days ago i did some upgrades to my pc, one of them was getting a 1600hz memory 8gb stick kingston hyper x, since my last pc was running at 1033 i think, well just now i checked and the ram sticks from my previous pc its actually a 1333 frequency, i need you to help me choose:

1.- keep only 8 gb of ram running at 1600.
2.- install 6 extra gb from my last sistem and have a total of 14gb running at 1333 freq. what would be better? main use for my pc its as hardcore gamer. thanks.

P.D in case it helps heres my other system specs:
windows 7 ultimate
i7 4770
gtx 670 2gb
1tb HD.

Well,
1)you will hardly see any improvement from going from 1333 up to 1600 in gaming. (but 8gb is better than 6 for gaming for sure(see #2))
2)i'm using win7 x64 and it hits 6-6.5gb ram usage max in the most demanding(well, worst optimized games, like coh2 for example), usually it's about 4-5gb. So 6gb can be a bit low, 8gb is good.
3)different size modules can't work in dual-channel mode that is really faster than single mode. So, even if u overclock your old 2gb module to 1600mhz u cannot use it in dual channel mode with a new one(4gb).
4)imo, u better go with 1600mhz 8gb dual channel for gaming and sell the rest(3x2gb) ram to some1 else for a few bucks.
