I've been having this issue for a while, now here is what has happened: For a while now, my computer has started having random problems with explorer.exe . Yeah, it sounds strange but the issue is that whenever i start my computer up there are like 40% chances for explorer.exe (the process) to start but nothing to appear on the screen but for the cursor. Sometimes it works, and evreything works just perfect. However, sometimes thumbnails for files are not genereated, and whenever i try to right click anywhere in a window beloning to explorer.exe it freezes the current window (the rest will still work). Same when i try to save, print, open or save as in any app that involves listing folders using explorer.exe's pickfile menu. This is really annoying, it's like my computer smelled fear 
Have tried defragging, error checking, disabling the anti-virus and doing a fullscan.
NOTE: Using BitDefender 2013 Total Security and it expired some time ago (after the problems started to happen)
Please keep in mind that my computer is "high-end" and solutions like "upgrade your ram" would be pointless.
