Way back when I got my computer, all the games I used to play were running fine with no lag. So recently I installed a couple of games from my childhood and noticed that every couple of minutes lagging started, lasted a few minutes and then continued running normal. And then all over again. All games that were running fine years ago now suddenly lag. So I searched the internet and stumbled upon some websites saying that it's an overheating problem. I installed this SpeedFan program, by advice from some people and saw a nasty message. Almost everything on the main screen had a green tick, except my GPU... it showed 90C and a fire icon. Some dudes on the internet complained about their temperature raising to 60C.....F****** 60C! So can you give me some clues about how I should lower the temperature, please. If there's any use, here are my pc specs:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2 GHz
Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT
3.5 GB RAM
Windows XP
If there's any need for more info, I'm glad to help just to get this done.

there may be 2 reasons
heatsink is loose not fit properly
heatsink fan is not working properly check that.

First thing you need to check is whether or not it's reading Fahrenheit. Easy way to check is hold your hand 6 inches from the card. If it's hot, it's C. if not, it's F.

Clean it up, and make sure the fan is working. I use a cotton swab and Isopropyl alcohol to clean mine every few months. You could also remove the cooler and replace the thermal paste since the card is older(I assume).
