I have a landline a nd router in my house.
I would like to provide wifi in my guest house which is opposite about 60 feet away
is this possible without running cables and incurring huge expense??

That is very close are you sure you do not already get a usable signal. You might be able to just place your router in the window on that side of the house and it may improve it enough to be usable. Generally if this does not work you are going to have to start putting in outdoor equipment and running some cables.

If you are getting poor or no signal in your guest house you could try getting a new Wi-Fi router with improved range, the Asus RT-N66u is a good one. You could also try a wireless range extender but they don't work very well so i wouldn't recommend it unless its your only option.
