My mouse is completely unresponsive, yet works fine in the BIOS. In device manager, it shows a yellow exclamation mark next to the HID-compliant section. Tried troubleshooting, but Windows said it was unable to troubleshoot. Tried downloading drivers, didn't fix anything. Ran CCleaner, nothing. Power is going to mouse, but laser on the bottom is off when in Windows. Safe Mode appears not to work for some reason

The only new thing is that I reinstalled Kaspersky Internet Security.

Any ideas? Going through and finding solutions has just lead to frustration after frustration as nothing seems to work

Solution
Have you tried plugging the mouse into different usb ports specifically if it was plugged into a usb 3 try putting it in a usb 1 or 2. You could also try a driver rollback in device manager or unplug the mouse, uninstall the drivers, restart, plug the mouse back in and let the auto detect reinstall the drivers again.

Ive used all of the USB ports in my attempts to fix. How do I do a driver rollback, and how do I find the specific mouse driver to uninstall?

Will double-enter button suffice, or is there a separate double-click keyboard shortcut?

Well that was foolish i forgot you don't have a mouse. No once you are in device manager just use the arrow keys to highlight it then press enter it will bring up the window.

Fixed it about a minute before seeing your post :') Used CCleaner to wreck my Kaspersky installation, then used the installer to repair Kaspersky. Turns out Kaspersky hates mice!
