So I am having a little trouble deciding what to do to fix a current issue i am having, i am thinking new psu, but would appreciate any advice. Here are the facts....

- PC ran fine since i built it a year ago
- got a 1 TB HD the other day, installed it
- while copying a bunch of files (steam library) from my SSD over to the new HDD computer froze
- i had my ipod touch plugged in and reformatting at the same time
- rebooted, figured it was a fluke, reformatted itouch, then copied copied over my steam files, everything went fine
-tried to play payday 2 from the my steam libraries new location on the new HDD, game started up like normal, but as soon as i tried to join a match my PC froze again
-rebooted, started payday2, tried to join match again, PC froze again
-started thinking new HDD was faulty
-copied steam library back to SSD
-played payday 2 for about an hour with a buddy, then pc froze again just like before
-rebooted and played payday 2 for a half hour, then went to bed
- next day i ran Western digitals hard drive scanning software, did a quick scan, a slow scan, wrote zeros to the first and last million sectors, wrote zeros to the whole disc, everything passed, no errors
- started thinking payday 2 was corrupt, deleted steam reinstalled on new HDD, and downloaded payday 2 from scratch, still froze right away when playing from HDD
-Installed new vegas to see if problem was specific to payday 2, fallout started up just fine, pc froze within 5 minutes of play
-turned pc power from extreme performance, down to power saver, underclocked gpu and turned its power draw down in Catalyst control center
-fallout new vegas and payday 2 now run fine, no freezes while gaming, no freezes other wise

Does it seem like a good chance that psu is the issue? I thought maybe graphics card could be the problem, but i did have one freeze when not gaming, and it seems weird that i start having problems the moment i added another drive to the system. Sorry for the long post, I appreciate any and all tips, and thank you for your time.

p.s. probably helps to know the system,
I have an fx6300
cheap 600w psu,
2 - 4gig sticks of ddr3 1600,
160gig SSD,
1 TB HDD,
HD7950
5 120mm fans
2 140mm fans
fan controller

"But you can tell it's a crappy power supply by the 115/230V input voltage selector. That means it doesn't even have PFC. 10 years ago, that was fine. But these days there's no excuse for not having PFC integrated into your design."

I purchased the ''Inland'' brand psu @ 600watts and that sucker lasted - I'd say 4 days tops. I heard a pop noise, and then the scent of burning electronics filled the air. This was in the middle of playing Battlefield 2..

I learned my lesson.. Lol..."
