HI,

My PC doesn't boot when it insert my HD 7870 from MSI into a MSI motherboard. But when i inserted the gpu into a pci-e slot a little lower (version 2.0) it does boot. The strange part about it is that even on the box it says that it is compatibel. So, do i need drivers to use 3.0 or anything? Please help me

There is an option in the bios which says pcie slot to boot from change it to 3 but it doesnt matter there will be no performance decrease from pcie 3 to pcie 2. No card can use the full bandwidth of pcie 2

I think so too, but where can i set the system to use pci-e dedicated gpu instead of the onboard vga?

did you try going into the bios and disabling 3.0 support/. your have a sandy bridge cpu and that doesn't support 3.0, that was only introduced in ivy bridge.

"Advanced
PCI Subsystem Settngs
Press <Enter> to enter the sub-menu.
PCIE GEN3
Ths tem s used to enable/ dsable the PCIe generaton 3 support."

I just did that, but it still didn't solve the problem. Still no Visuals on the screen when plugging it in the 3.0 version, maybe it is broken?
