Video but no audio with HDMI to TV

I am running video from my laptop (HP - windows 7) to my large screen tv (DYNEX). We use it this way regularly with a children's church group and it has always worked perfectly, but now I have video but no audio. The IDT High Definition Audio is supposedly "working properly." When I go into the mixer to try to adjust the settings it does not give me any options to switch devices. The only option is "stereo and speakers."

ok...went back to the drawing board and decided to try all the same things I'd tried before. This time when I went into control panel>sounds I found a place to show hidden devices (never noticed that before) and that was the trick. Once I clicked it I was able to enable IDT which was "working properly" but apparently not enabled and couldn't be enabled until it was showing as an option. Hope this helps someone else.

There was audio coming out of the laptop but I could not get it to go to the tv. I figured it out though and posted the answer. Thanks. Your earlier post at least helped me to go back to things I had tried before and I guess I looked at it differently this time.
