I am building a new gaming pc and im at 1222 usd and would like to know how to get it under a thousand.

Can easily knock off some money with a smaller PSU, 850 watts is way to much. For a single GPU you could using something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151095.
or a smaller 550watt psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013

For Dual GPU's later on then get a 750 watt instead http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207015

That motherboard is way to expensive. I am not an expert on AMD systems but you could easily cut off 40-80 bucks there.

You wont really notice the difference between 8GB and 16GB when gaming, you could cut the RAM in half and use these G.Skill sticks:

I agree with Snipergod.
Get the Sabertooth (has a five-year warranty), cut the PSU down to 600W for one graphics card or 750W for two. Reduce the RAM to 8GB, and you're spending way too much on the case; consider this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147107 for $90.

Can a mid tower hold that graphics card? i read in the reviews that it was really really big.

Oh yes. My HD7970 is bigger, and it will fit in a Fractal Designs Define Mini (a mATX case).
