  1. Price wise, the R9 280X. Performance wise, GTX 770.

Is there any major difference between these two?.I heard that 280X comes with Mantle API.
  3. Id go for the 280x due to the better price/performance and the additional GB of vram
  4. I would go for the EVGA GTX 770 ASX, runs cool and quiet and overclocks really well, plus you can take advantage of G Sync monitors and Shadow play in the near future
  5. Guys what about MANTLE API thing that AMD released?.Did that Mantle API overcome Nvidia Physx.

GTX 770 only has 254bit memory bus so is that hurt so much for 1080p gaming or 1440p?
  7. Mantle hasn't been released as of yet , and the performance numbers are only speculated.
Mantle and Physx are different from each other , Physx allows for additional physics in compatible games to work.

Sure theoretically the higher bus is better but it doesn't seem to be hampering the performance of the Nvidia cards in comparison

Anyway according to the internet sources 280X power consumption much higher than other GPU's.:??:

    :)

Much of my friends says AMD is the future of gaming world.beacuase the MANTLE API.is that true or false?
  11. No one knows what Mantle's potential is, we just have to wait until AMD releases it

    thanks for the reply

Anyway in this situation you prefer GTX770 instead of R9 280X Toxic.....
  13. If price is a non-issue, I would vote for the EVGA GTX 770 w/ ACX Cooler. But performance-wise, they're not far apart. Give or take a few percentages on the GTX 770.

Can you tell me which type of a PSU should i need to work with GTX770?

    Currently i'm using 750W PSU
  15. If it is a good quality 750 Watt psu then you are good to go , what is your psu?

    IN WIN COMMANDER IRP-COM750 750W
  17. That will work just fine , it ain't the best but its good enough

A quality 550W PSU is sufficient to run a single GTX 770. For SLI, you want a quality 750W. Your In Win PSU is not great, but not terrible. It'll be fine.
  19. Hey guys, just i saw some benchmark videos of 770 & 280X.But the problem is these two GPU's performance all most same of some time.

Ohhh thats great.....that's a some kind of a relief for me otherwise I had to spend some extra bugs over that:)
  22. Im a nvidia fan but I'd say wait a little bit and see what mantle does once its released..

That means more to come from AMD
  26. well companies always try to make something sound good just like amd did with the new r9 280 and 290 series cards but now that they are out we are all seeing otherwise.
  27. For those of you who haven't seen the Q/A with Developers that use Mantle from the APU13

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSY2KXBoro0

Anyone with a gram of brain can realize that such high profile devs would not spend so much time on it if the gain was marginal. Like they said themselves: Do you really think we would go thrugh all this for just 10% increased performance?
  28. If you are gaming at 1080p then my vote goes to Asus DCII 280X. Cheaper, cooler, and quieter than both you listed but will still get 60+ fps at ultra settings on almost every game at 1080p. The only thing that made me consider Nvidia was G-sync, but supposedly AMD is working on it's own solution to that. For anything abobe 1080p I vote for an aftermarket cooled 290.

I used to have nothing against Nvidia but lately I kinda refuse to support them at all. AMD makes shit like TressFX and Mante platform agnostic (I believe they stated somewhere that Nvidia would have the option to embrace Mantle if they so choose), but Nvidia takes things like PhysX and the allegedly revolutionary G-sync and locks them down to their hardware only. Closed proprietary systems do not make for good long-term tech progression and they screw over consumer choice.
  29. Until they show the people how great it is im not buying it. Hell amd/ati/radeon are still know for the unreliability with drivers and temperatures. I want amd/radeon to do great cause thats good for consumers in price shopping. Hell I might even like to get a future radeon card but as it stands now and in the past nvidia is the more reliable choice.

i will argue with that reliability claim. ive had my cards since launch with 0 issues. also got an old 5870 that still runs games fine.
  31. Im not saying everyone has issues but noone can argue radeons vid card reputation for bad drivers and reliability.
