Approximate Purchase Date: Currently buying parts, may wait to see some BF/CM deals

Budget Range: Trying to keep it around $1,200 to 1,500 total. I already have some parts that are included in that (CPU and GPU). Looking for good value.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Mainly for gaming, (BF4, CoD: Ghosts, etc.)

Are you buying a monitor: No

New Parts that I have purchased: Intel i7 4770K, Sapphire R9 280X Toxic Edition

Parts that I'm considering reusing: Corsair TX 750 PSU (I would like a modular and to keep my old PC functional, but not against using this for the time being until I can find a good deal). Antec 900 case (for the same reasons as the PSU, although this would be much more trouble to reuse)

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, Ideally I'd like to use Windows 8.1 Pro, but it probably isn't worth the extra money for my uses. I could buy a version of Windows 8 Pro and just upgrade it to 8.1 for free after building, correct? It's cheaper to do this.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Amazon are the two I prefer the most, but I'll use others if the difference is substantial.

Location: DFW, TX

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: I may consider this down the road

Monitor Resolution: 1920 x 1080

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: It's just getting to be about time to upgrade my 4-5 year old build (Phenom II 955).

New Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/mattbu/saved/2Sr5
CPU: Intel i7 4770K - Microcenter - $199 (purchased)

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 Cooler - Newegg - $75

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard - Amazon - $190

Memory: 16 GB (2x8GB). This is one of the things that I'm undecided on. Is it worth getting a overclocked set or just better of getting a good cheaper 1600 set? Also, I have to consider if it will fit with my CPU cooler.
Something like Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600 for $109 OR
Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600 ~$140 OR
G.Skill Trident X 2400 $175
Or any other recommendations.

GPU: Sapphire R9 280X Toxic Edition - $350 (purchased)

SSD: Undecided, I was going to get a 240GB Intel 530 from Amazon yesterday for $150, but the deal expired. Any recommendations? I'd like to install OS and one or two of my most heavily played games on it. Trying to keep the price on the lower end ($150ish) for this.

HD: Undecided, I'd like at least a 1 TB and really don't want to spend all too much. Under $100 for sure. I may wait on this for BF/CM deals and just build it with the SSD for the time being.

Optical Drive: I just want the basic function of DVD+-R/DVD+-RW Lite On $15

Case: I currently have a old Antec 900 and it's kind of cramp and difficult to hide cables behind the motherboard panel. I'm thinking of getting a full tower, just so I'll be sure I'll never run out of room and have good cooling. One thing is important is that it has dust filters, my current case doesn't and it's annoying. I'm considering CM HAF X for around $150 on newegg or CM Storm Trooper for around the same. I'm not opposed to a roomy mid-tower if one can be recommended.
CM Storm Trooper - Newegg - $150

PSU: Corsair HX 750 - Newegg - $86 after rebates

I'm open to and appreciate and suggestions or tips. Thanks for the help.

You're spending money in the wrong places. You don't need a $150 case, 16 GB of RAM, an expensive motherboard and an i7.

Can you return any of the parts you bought?

Add a 780 or 290X

Legenda in Aeternum
Good start, Haswell scales well to DRAM so would go 1866 as bare minimum - like the Tridents 2400 set, they are killer sticks, for most people 128GB is sufficient for OS and primary apps, can always load little used apps on th eplatter drive if needed - HAF X is nice, lots of room - I prefer a mid-tower, but my oldest has the HAF X and has me thinking of one for a X79 build

I cannot return the R9 280x, but I am happy with it as a card. Sure, an i7 is probably overkill for the large majority of what I'm going to be doing, but it was hard to pass up on for $200. Perhaps I am wasting too much on unimportant things like a case and excess RAM. In my previous build I wasn't happy with the room I had in my case (Antec 900) and wanted something that had better cable management and would easily fit large video cards such as mine. I also, wanted something that I'd be happy enough to reuse.

CPU Cooler: I am not sure about a contained liquid cooler. That is a good price.
Motherboard: I looked at the ASRock, but some of the newegg reviews kind of scared me off. I just went with the ASUS board because of their quality.
Storage: Thanks for the recommendations on both of those, they look great. Also, thanks Trade for the recommendation of the smaller size.
PSU: Nice find on the Seasonic, I'm guessing it's better than the Corsair I had picked?
