Hello, My computer's cpu is too hot, Do i need to reapply thermal paste?
my idle temp is currently around 60c on the hottest core with only this program chrome open. The only background proccesses are microsoft security essentials, railink wifi program, windows update (its not installing anything) and amd catalyst. Here are some pictures: (The before had the f12 fan on the side panel). i dont know what temp it is in my room but its not really hot. its 4-5c outside.if you have any ideas on how to apply the paste? should i use the cling film method? my cpu is intel core 2 quad q6600.

60 at idle is way too hot. My guess is the CPU cooler is full of dust, which will happen after 2-3 years. It will be worth taking it off, cleaning it, removing thermal paste and reapplying. Plenty of methods shown on youtube. If it's thin stuff, a pea size blob which spreads itself, for thicker stuff, apply a thin layer, as thin as possible. I use a clean finger.
Air flow in your case should go in at the font, side, bottom and out at the back, top.

Ice is right on, you might as well check the heatsink and blow all the dust out from the heatsink and below the fan while you redoing this. Check all the grills on the case and clean off all the surfaces clogged with dust. If you don't have good airflow thru your case you might add a front fan. 12cm if your case has a spot for it pointing in, to draw in air from the front so air will move thru your case from the front and exit out the back.
