Ok so I have just bought a amd fx 6300
8 gb ram
1 tb hard drive

and I am on a budget so I was thinking of getting the gtx 660

is it worth it? will it play games for atleast 2 more years? I dont mean high super quality I just mean with out lag and stuttering.

My main focus is witcher 3
thief 4
watch dogs

Thank you for any and all help. sorry if I sound noobish but I am lol

Before it is said, I could not go with intel.

I have around 700 and I am buying it from amazon. I just looked at a intel 3570k but thats only quad core and if i got that i would definalty have to get the 660 but if i get the fx 6300 i can get a 760 I am pretty positive.

I have tried to research on here alot but figured I would just outright ask because this is very confusing for me. Never built a machine to game with

The 3570k is a quad core but one of its cores is about as powerful as two of AMD's cores

If you're gonna buy intel, might as well stick with the 4670k since its new socket has future upgradability

I'd probably stick with an FX-6300 and a nice cooler for overclocking and a 760/7950 for the GPU

does the k at the end matter? and I never overclocked before is that something I would need to do?

K just means unlocked multiplier for overclocking, you wouldn't need to unless you need additional performance out of have an aging CPU which isn't taking advantage of a new GPU for example

If you don't want to overclock at all just stick with a non-k series i5 and a cheaper non z77 motherboard

I would expect it to do quite well with 2014 games at least on high settings

The 7870 is worth considering, though

It would worth it to spend a little more towards a better PSU like an XFX 550W, good luck :D
