After looking at the dropped prices cards a little, I think I'll go with nvidia, I don't really want to deal with the heat issues on the r9 290/290x (unless there is a better cooled version out there).

Question time: here are 4 cards that I've found after 5 mins of browsing. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

P.S. What's the difference between the two gigabyte cards?

Opinions are appreciated.
Gracias. :)

Naturally the top cards today are the 780Ti and the r9-290x, once the board partners start getting better cooling solutions the r9-290 and 29ox will be hard to beat. The 780Ti is the video card that will compete with them.
You decision to go with the 780 puts your gaming performance just under those cards, so if it's still your decision to go with a lower priced card then the MSI card looks good to me. The fans are bigger and should give more air flow with less noise.
The GIGABYTE GV-N780GHZ-3GD also looks like a good card.

The EVGA card got the most favorable reviews, but I like the MSI myself.

waterblock a 290/x and it stays the same temp as a 780/ti... this has already been done and proven. you should wait for the board partners to release their fan cooled hawaii gpus as nvidia is still price gouging with their 780... its $479 compared to the $379 290. im not a fan of paying $100 for nothing.

Ok, between those two cards.

The Gigabyte seems to win a lot, but MSI wins a few times. However I don't really understand the features compared all that much, so I can't tell if the few MSI has makes up for it, etc.

On the Amd sidenote, do we know when the really well-cooled
cards are coming out?
Thanks
