I just bought a sony vaio VGN-NW115J laptop today and was wondering if I would be able to upgrade the CPU. I know the cpu is a Pentium Dual Core T4200 @ 2.0 GHz. I'm not sure what socket it uses or what processors I could use to upgrade it. Thanks for any help you can give.

It's socket p but you want to make sure the bios supports the cpu you are upgrading to. Laptop manufacturers don't post the cpu support list but you can contact them to get it. Although I wouldn't really recommended spending more than $50 on that laptop. How much did you buy the laptop for?

Laptops aren't meant to have the CPU upgraded, as the laptop is made to be perfectly balanced. If you upgrade to something a lot better, chances are you'll overheat alot, probably to the point of crashing often.

I upgraded my Dell Inspiron from single core Celeron CPU & 2 GB RAM to dual core Celeron & 8 GB. It ran so much better after that. Check YouTube for examples of how to upgrade your specific laptop.
