Coming around January i'm going to be looking to up grade my my GTX 470 to either a Radeon 270x or a Radeon 280x and I was wondering if it would bottlekneck my i5-750 which is over clocked to 3.6 Ghz and if so what Radeon cause could I buy that could run BF4 and not suffer from gpu usage problems.

More about : radeon 270x 280x

You might want to upgrade both your CPU and your GPU. That I5 is quite old and might bottleneck a 270x. Deciding between the 270x or the 280x is a no brainer. The 280x is a lot better, you get a lot more performance for about 100 dollars more. It is also more future proof. If you want something in between 200 and 300 dollars the gtx 760 or 7950 are both good cards. If your budget will allow I recommend upgrade to an i5 4670k or an FX 8350 (or just over clock an fx 8320) and a r9 280x. Either way it means getting a new motherboard, but i think a complete overhaul would be good.

Thanks. Right now i'm on a budget at the moment and I figured I would up upgrade my gpu 1st to hold off on upgrading my cpu because of the fustration in BF4 and the radeon 270 was looking good since i'm on a budget and later on in the year. Would a Radeon 7870 2gb be a safer choice in the mean time to aboid bottleknecking? I'd rather go with a gpu instead of needing to wait until mid summer to purchas a new cpu, motherboard, and memory.

the 7870 is a old card in terms of GPU's, if you want a 200 dollar new card I recommend a gtx 660 or a 270x. The logo behind spending more now is upgrading in 3-4 years rather than 2 for cheaper cards.

yea I have ocp and and little patiences problem when It comes to saving money while I'm having problems with hardware . I game at 1600*900 @60Mhz and perfer high settings with AFx16 no AA and I was told by another person that I should have no issues with either card and I wanted to get a 2nd opinion on the bottlekneck question before I do the upgrade.

Thanks. Oh and thank you for the 4670k reconmendation because in the mid summer hopefully sooner I want to upgrade my cpu, motherboard, and memory, starting with the cpu first then the following month the motherboard and ram and I plan on overclocking it when I become familar with the motherboard I buy to go with the cpu. Would you have any reconmendations for the motherboard generally between $60-100$ and memory to go with it.

I just completed my first build ever a month ago and am very pleased with my I5-4670K and R9 280x. I'm playing BF4 on highest settings and excellent frame rate.
To answer your question on MB; mine is an Asus z87-k and it cost around $114.
Good luck on your upgrade
