I recently changed my motherboard to the MSI 990FXA GD80v2 and when I open either CORE TEMP or HWCPUID my core 0 temperature is read as 255 degrees C. This is obviously incorrect(my computer's plastic isn't melting), but I believe it's causing my CPU to throttle by being over 100 degrees above the Tj. Max. Does anyone know a solution?
More about6300 cpu temp 255 degrees
Also, what is the BIOS seeing as a temperature? That temp will determine whether the processor performs any throttling.
probably just a bug, since if its an 8-bit, then 255 is the highest value.
