HDD not showing and random power down

A few days ago, my secondary HDD (w/o OS on it) decided not to show in windows "My Computer". Checked the BIOS and it showed there. After a few hard restarts to do some troubleshooting, it decided to show back up. Tonight, my computer randomly shut down and now the HDD isn't showing again. Is this my motherboard letting me know it's about to crap out or what? And ideas on how to troubleshoot these issues and narrow down the problem?

Well, I unplugged the HDD last night just to see how things would go. So far, no problems. Gonna keep an eye on it the next day or two and see what happens.

I don't think it's the PSU, but I can't rule that out yet.
