I was planning on getting a AMD 8350 Black Edition with a Asus Sabertooth 990FX/ Gen 3 R2.0 but a salesman suggested that I choose something else since the manufacturers will stop supporting these products soon. These parts fit my budget and I don't plan on overclocking anytime soon but I want reliable parts. Should I believe him or go with a Intel 4670K and look for another motherboard?

If you don't plan on overclocking then go for the i5 4670 (non K versions). And I would suggest that you go for the i5 yes. But this depends on what you plan to do with the PC? Gaming/Video Editing/Rendering/General use etc?

I plan to overclock maybe in 2-3 years. I will use it for gaming/ general use and mild video editing. So do you think that AMD 8350 is close to being obsolete? Thanks!

Close to obsolete. Not really but AMD can't keep up with Intel in regards to desktop CPU's. But the i5's andi7's are consistently faster in games. You can get an i5 4670k for around the same price as the 8350.

Sounds like a salesman trying to sell you a product that he makes more money from. I have both an I7 and the 8350 and they game the same at 1080p. Don't worry about support for the AMD products, they will be around for years to come. Get the product that fits your budget and enjoy it for many years.

Yeah. I have to agree with this. I've had a salesman try to sell me the Green Coolermaster HAF X case when I wanted the black one. He told me the black ones were discontinued and out of stock etc etc etc. Yet 2 months later they had 2 new black ones on display and you could still order them from Coolermaster
