Just got an asus h87 pro mobo and a haswel i5. Everything has been ok for a week. I just installed a NZXT kraken x40 All in one Cpu cooler. Instalation went perfect until I went to turn on the system. I am not a noob by any means. The computer turned on for .2 seconds and i smelled smoke. I immedietly pulled power, ect. The way I had it set up was the 3 pin connecter coming from water cooler was connected to the 4 pin cpu fan header. This should not have been a problem!!!!! The trace from the 4pin cpu fan header is BURNT. I am going insane trying to decide if it was the kraken or if my motherboard was bad.
I just read a report of someones 4pin cpu power getting burnt from a faulty fan, as well as someone using a kraken x60 and their 4pin header burnt out. Here is my question;
IS THE COOLER FAULTY OR IS it the motherboard?
thanks so much guys
