GTX 260 problem

I have a gtx 260.after updating using GeForce, my 260 gets heat up excessively n most times it gets hot really quick.
Whats the problem?
should i uninstall GeForce?

thanks for the reply.well it is 3-4 yrs old.but never thought it may has ran out of steam.ill look into ur suggestion.
