i bought 8gb of ddr3 1600 corsair vengeance ram, but by defualt it runs at 1333 not 1600. i read the reviews and this seems to be a fairl common problem; most people say to increase voltage to 1.5v. My BIOS says it is already running at 1.5v so what should i increase the voltage to safely run at 1600?

Solution

Go into your BIOS and enable the XMP setting and overclock it back to 1600MHz.

That isn't a problem at all. All memory defaults to 1333 or 1600 in some newer boards, you have to manually adjust it in bios to run at the rated timings/speed.

If you'll tell me what board, memory, and processor you have I can get you up and running at 1600 (assuming the cpu/board are capable)

PS: if you have an overclocking setting called XMP or DOCP enable it and it should work right away.

What CPU do you have? It might be because your CPU can't handle 1600MHz. It might be your CPU or maybe you have to turn on your XMP Profiling on in your BIOS settings.
