I am new to understanding graphics. I will be building my first system here pretty shortly and I cant find the benchmarks for the sli 770's to compare with the 780ti. I have heard different things for different people like "Single-card GPUs are always the best solution for gaming" and I have also said "SLI configurations give you significantly more horsepower than a high end single card"

Then supposedly there is something about games not coming out with SLI support when they first launch usually?

Can anyone help me out here?

I will probably only be gaming on a 1080p display at 144hz. but, it is possible that I will end up running a nvidia surround set up as well. If I were to SLI 770s I would go with the 4gb version

I'd go with a 780ti for either single 1080 or surround. For single monitor gaming the 780ti will max any game. Based on these 2 charts below the 780ti is less than 10FPS away from 770 SLI with 3 monitors. Less power draw, less potential headaches, way faster memory since it has the Hynix vram, best gk110 chip out there.. Plus you could always SLI the 780ti later down the line when Radeon and Nvidia start trading punches AGAIN over the next top card.

Heres a graph of 5760x1080 BF3 with a 780ti
