Best forum readers,

I want to buy a good UPS for my NAS (DS412+ Synology).
I haven't got many luck yet.
First of all I don't have any knowledge from this part of the hardware.
I looked at the Internet I found the following brands: APC, powerwalker and cyberpower.
Which do you think are good and who not?
The NAS has to hold it for 10-20 minutes when there is a power loss.

Thanks for your fast reaction.
Alright so APC is pretty much the best, but when I look for their equipment I see a lot of old stuff (think of 2008 to 2010)?

Is there a reason for that (isn't there a lot of innovation any more) or am I looking at the wrong place?

Are you looking on their website or through eBay or similar? I mean an uninterrupted power source is pretty much a battery powered back up generator. There really isn't anything new to this technology per se as far as I know, but a UPS can power anything from a single workstation to an entire hospital.

Cyberpower has a series of units specifically intended for devices containing power supplies with active PFC. Rather than the stepped square wave that most cheap UPS units (including APC) use, they have a clipped triangle waveform that crosses the -0- line much the way a sine wave does. They are less expensive than "true sinewave" UPS units, but offer equivalent compatibility.
I have two of them. Their only weakness may be (it hasn't troubled me) reduced run time, however buying a larger capacity than you need will take care of that. Otherwise, they operate systems even with PSUs that are very sensitive to the input waveform. For example, I have a SG-650 that will simply shut off when attached to an APC (non-sine) UPS, but will run happily on the Cyberpower APFC unit. Be sure to look for that PFC designation in the model number.

@g-unit1111,

No I'm just looking at a normal shop. What do you think of this one: APC Back-UPS ES 550VA 230V

@Onus,

Yes thats true. I found that about those sine waves a couple of days ago. I send Synology a message about what will be better for the NAS. They told me as long the NAS and UPS are compatible there are no problem. Besides in my country they don't sell cyberpower (and it is expensive to import this stuff because of its weight) so that isn't my first choice.
