Best CPU upgrade for me?

I am currently running a intel i5-650 and im looking at upgrading it, i have the 1156 connector and have been looking into the i7 800 series but i just want to know whats best for me?

i do alot of video editing, ram previewing and gaming, my graphics is fine as im running a radeon 6870, just want to know the best one for me :)

    The i7-870 is a great choice when choosing a new 1156 chip for editing. You'll see a big jump in performance from your previous i5 650. It can be picked up quiet cheaply for what it is: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bv80605001905ai

    Well, the "best" would be the i7-870, but you didn't specify your budget.

    PS: By today's standard your GPU is actually low-mid range.

    PS: By today's standard your GPU is actually low-mid range.


    Sorry mate i have been looking at the 870 and i know it is but in dont see the point in upgrading the GPU when its fine for me.

    If you don't want to upgrade your motherboard too; getting the i7 870 would be your best option hands down. Editing power is more CPU based than GPU too so you're correct there.
