I have had this card a little over a year and it ran fine, temps were always in the high 60's or less on full load. In the past few months it has increased in temps to the point it is now crashing (hitting in the high 80s in BF4 with fan maxed out within minutes of gaming). My CPU temps have not changed and i clean out my system fairly regularly.

Card dying? Fan not doing its job anymore?

I have never changed thermal paste on a Graphics card before. Not even sure how to open the thing up.

Maybe thermal paste and a better fan for the card? Any solid guide out there for that?

Probably answering my own question, but any additional help would be great :).

I finally stopped ignoring the problem and bought an aftermarket cooler for this. Accelero Mono Plus.

I was worried about taking apart the graphics card since I never have before, but once inside it was easy to see the problem. The thermal paste was globbed on one side and pretty much missing on the other, was surprised it lasted this long. Fixing that would probably have solved the problem on its own but the fan noise was a bit annoying too.

The Accelero Mono Plus installed fairly easily and worked like a charm

only complaint is it is heavy and bolted to the middle of the card and might be putting a bit of stress on the card as it hangs there.

But to the heat matter. 80c+ in minutes of gaming is now 50c after a couple hours of BF4 and I can't even hear the fan now.
