Did my new Graphic Card kill my PSU or system?

I got a new radeon hd 7850. I plugged it in then realised it needs extra power. Found a pci-e cable, plugged it in my radeon and psu but the pc wouldnt start at all. Not for a secound. Got the graph out and it still wouldnt start. Tried with the basic settings without hdd and any extra things, just the mainboard and the psu. Nothing works at all. There were no sound no smoke or anything. The only thing i maybe made was that i plugged the pci-e in another soccet (but it didnt go in at all, it was dark...), pc didnt want to start, realised it was the wrong soccet, changed into the right soccet, still nothing and nothing at all. Not one sound or anything. I dont have my old pc with me to test the motherboard and the psu. Any suggestion? Did i kill my psu? Or the motherboard? Was it the radeon or the wrong soccet? (what is really bothering that there were no sound, beep, smoke or anything at all)

It could be a bad PSU. But it could also be you when playing inside the computer, like electrostatic discharge. Did you disconnect the power cable (and preferably all other cables) from the computer before touching it? It's also a good idea to hold the power button for a few seconds to make sure the capacitors are empty before playing inside. Not everyone is wearing them and it's not mandatory, but anti-static wristbands offer extra protection.

That being said, I have no idea what you mean by wrong "socket"...? There's only one PCI-E connector on the card and it's clearly identified, I really don't know how you could try to connect the PCI-E elsewhere.

Finally, what is your PSU brand and model? Some of them are really cheap and don't...

It sounds like something happened to the PSU. I could be wrong, but if it were the motherboard, at least the powersupply fans would still spin up. What are your system's specs and PSU wattage? It looks the like best thing to do now would be to get a new PSU.

The socket were a Sata/fdd socket. It was dark and couldnt see directly at it. But i didnt think it went all in just stuck in it. Tried it later it cant go all in. The Psu was not that cheap. 550 watt thermaltake.

And tried to connect the 7850 royalking.

I checked online the power should be enough. The min power Recomended with this setup 400w.

(After switching off the power i can hear after a sec in the psu a really faint sound. Like a bug buzz just for a sec.)

I brought it to work, here I have an old PC to destroy:)
So I tested, the PSU works fine with another MOBO. Damn...
But the MOBO won´t do squat with another PSU. So found the problem.
As for the source, maybe MC_K7 was right, it was a Electrostat discharge (ESD). Looked into it, had no idea something like this could happen, maybe its the source. But shouldnt I find some burned chips or something? Mobo looks absolutely find by me. I HOPE, that the core i3 is safe. Gotta test it somehow.

UPDATE:

SO, MoBo is dead, tested with another PSU, just bought a new board, really nice, a higher category, nice bios. Thank God CPU and everything else are OK.

The only thing not working is the new HD 7850. I dont know if it ever worked, or the Mobo killed it. It was not new. A friend gave it to me, he said it has no problem, whatsoever.
Tried it in an old computer, there was only beep-beep, no screen, nothing. (i am not sure if the old one is capable to handle it or not)
Tried it with this new Mobo, wont recognise it at all, but no error. I can only access BIOS now, im not at home, just tested if it works.
My only hope, that it needs a driver or something and it will kick in later, but I dont give much of a hope to that, it should at least kick in, spin the fan or give a basic signal to the monitor.

Thanks for everything everyone, if you have any suggestion what to do with the GPU, feel free to share!
