Cant quit out of gmod HELP

So my gmod crashed and i tried to kill it in the taskmanager but i cant. Then i shut down the computer and boot it up. But hl2.exe is still running and i cant kill it still. Help

Did you just press the power button? Usually that puts the computer into sleep/hibernate. Try holding down the power button. Or if that doesn't work pull out the power chord.

I don't think hl2.exe could keep running between shutdowns, that just doesn't make sense. I mean, I could be wrong, but I've just never heard of something like that.
