Question about upgrading to a SSD

I have an old HP Pavilion dv2 laptop and was planning on upgrading the HD to a SSD. I currently have a Crucial M4 128gb SSD on my desktop, so I'm wondering if I should move the M4 to my laptop and invest in a higher end SSD for my desktop? Will I see any noticeable improvements with a more recent SSD? If not, I was thinking I would just go with a Kingston V300 60gb for my laptop. I would assume even a lower end SSD will be a huge upgrade over my old 5400RPM Toshiba drive.

I don't think you will notice a real difference in a newer drive in your current PC, I would just get a larger one because you can't go wrong with more space. You can definitely buy a faster and larger drive, but whether or not you will feel the speed increase is unlikely, you would notice the speed if your benchmarking or doing something drive intensive but for the day to day task I do not think you will notice it.

But yes bigger one like Samsung 840 EVO 250GB for the desktop and then that 128GB drive for the laptop would be ideal. Plenty of space and speed for the laptop for the little things that you do with it, and then a larger faster drive for the desktop.
