Whats the impact of windows updates on PC performance?

I feel like my PC is slower after the updates.... or its my imagination?

Are windows updates necessary?

PC Specs
Cpu:i5 2500@ 3.8Ghz
Ram:16GB
GPU:Nvidia GTX660ti
OS:Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
Conn:35/3Mbit

Laptop Specs

Solution
Well, at least try to get some empirical data before you stop updating. See if there is any dip in frame-rates after updates. Find some sort of benchmarking software to keep things consistent.

But I do suggest you keep installing updates. Even though you may think there's nothing important on your computer, if you do any online banking, or use any kind of account around the web, you'll want to keep every part of your computer locked down to keep the nasties out and protect those passwords. So update!

I strongly suggest you at least find some substantiating evidence before turning off the updates.

Just my advice.

I really dont care about security. There is nothing worthy of stealing at my PC,im a gamer :p (i have authenticators for most games or account lockdown if someone tries to log in from a different IP)
