Im looking to upgrade my cpu in an old extra pc i use as a spare and i've searched high and low all over the net for an answer and it seems no one is sure. Some say yes and that you need a bios update and that they are running them just fine others say no it won't work with or without the bios update. The pc is an old Hp media center m7674n. As in title mobo is the P5BW-LA (Basswood).
I know its an old pc and i have a way newer gaming one that i built a year ago that blows its socks off but I still use this one for when i have company and such and I would love to upgrade the processor because the current one (core 2 duo E6400@2.13ghz) just isn't cutting it anymore.
So if its possible, for those of you who say yes....
A. do i need a bios update?
B. will it work fine with windows xp?
C. If it needs a bios update where can i find it at? =)
