AMD Alternative to i5?

What's the best alternative to an i5 3330.

Need to buy a new Mobo anyway so was thinking to save some money for my fathers build I'd try AMD any good suggestions for a cheaper CPU?

the Fx-6300 is on par with an i5-3750k so thats the one id go with. but if you can afford the fx-8250 and OC it then why not. unless it will bottle neck the gpu. what gpu are you using?

They're completely different architectures, game-debate does not compare them properly. The intels have higher IPC so will perform better than AMD even at lower clock speeds.

Not really. Even OC its slightly slower.

And it can be overclocked.

The 6300 is a great CPU at an amazing price but its not quite 3570K level.
