GPU Wattage ???????

I would still have a bit of concern with a power supply that only has 324 watts on its 12 volt rails(for a unit rated at 460 watts) and ONLY a single 6 pin pci-e connector at its disposal.

I would look at other power supplies for the future as I am not sure how well this one will handle it.

The R9-290x isn't on that chart, did you mean the R9-280x (HD7970)

Please provide the specific model of supply. The ratings can be misleading. Keep in mind that you do need to run the rest of the system as well and running a PSU near its maximum load for extended periods isn't a good idea.
