okay so i just found my 32GB pny memory stick, its now empty. i got to thinking, isnt an SSD a big flash stick? i mean arnt they both flash memory? can i put a game onto my flash drive and launch it off of there or is this impossible?

Solution
Yes, but the throughput is the important factor. SSDs achieve this with an array of flash chips and an integrated controller that aggregates the speed of each chip.

If that USB drive can only deliver 20Mb/s then it really wouldn't be much faster then a hard drive, and any game loaded on the drive would need to have the same drive letter used each time to make it work properly (unless it is a standalone game)

Windows 7 and 8 offer a feature called Ready Boost that will act as a buffer between your Hard drive and Ram, but again a fast memory stick is needed to make it worthwhile.

You would have to find the exact rating for your thumb drive, to make a decent determination.
