Hello all,
I’m having a bit of trouble after a GPU upgrade on my machine. I originally had a GTX 560 TI running alongside a GT 640 and everything ran great. I wanted to upgrade the GPU so I removed the 640 and added the 760. After doing this I was not able to get my machine to post, it would turn on, HDDs would power up and fans would come on for about 5 seconds and then power off. I suspected this may be a power issue so I decided to use the 640 alongside the 760. After swapping out the 560 I’m still having trouble: the machine will boot but only after powering on and powering off twice – on the third attempt the machine will boot successfully. I’m not seeing an error lights or anything of that nature.

In addition to the boot/reboot problem I noticed my motherboard is no longer detecting all of the installed RAM – I currently have 24 GB of RAM installed on the board, BIOs and Windows both report 16 GB.

I don’t think the problem is power related because the 760 and 560 use an identical amount of power (170W), rather I think it’s a problem with my BIOs configuration, but I can’t figure out what is wrong exactly.

My hardware specs are:

Asus Sabertooth x58 mobo
24 GB of identical Corsair RAM
Intel i7 960 OC’d @ 3.85 GHz
GTX 760 GPU
GT 640 GPU
775W Thermaltake PSU (used this with dual 560 TI’s in SLI before without any problems)

I’ve brought the BIOs back to default settings and this problem still seems to be occurring. Once the machine boots I don’t experience any problems, it stress tests okay and I’m able to play graphic intensive games.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!
