Hello!

I connected a second HDD and since then no POST. I discovered the cause is RAM. when I change the RAM there is everything normal. when I install the bad RAM on a second identical motherboard there is no POST. is the RAM still usable??? is it burned? how can I know?

So wait you're saying the computer worked fine, you pluged in a 2nd HD, and now your ram doesn't work? what did you hit them with when trying to install the HD?

Okay couple of things to try... one reset your bios (unplug computer, remove battery, wait 45~60 seconds, hit power button, reinstall battery, plug up comptuer, start computer) its possible you ended up with some sort of weird bios setting when messing with the HD, but most likely the ram was damaged in some way during the HD install.

If the RAM did work in the motherboard and now doesn't work in either the original nor in a new MB, then it is toast. Just throw it out. There is no fixing the RAM stick.

This assumes that you correctly seated in the RAM in the slot, the contacts aren't dirty and you haven't plugged them back into the MB in a configuration the MB doesn't like.

Additionally I don't know what brand your ram is but several manufacturers have lifetime warranties, inspect the stick closely, if you see nothing bent and nothing burnt they very well may replace them under warranty. (well you have to ship them to the MFG on your own dime)

the compter was NOT on when I did plug in the HDD. it is possible that the power supply was overloaded because 2 HHDs (it is 400 W). after testing each stick individually on slot A1, the computer did boot and did recognize the sticks. I have 4 identical sticks. when plugging in all 4 sticks there was NO POST again.

thank you for reply!

what is NB?
the specifications of the manufacturer said 1.8 V for DDR2. it was set in BIOS to AUTO. I did set it up manually to 1.8 V and NO POST. you say I should set to 1.9 V? there is no danger?

I did raise the voltage of DDR2 to 1.9 V. I do not find the setting for NB voltage (I am not a profesionist). please, if you can see the user manual from this link and advise me, I would be greatful:

when booting, there is no display (black screen) but the monitor led is blinking green. first one long beep and then 3 short beeps. I think windows is loaded because I see HDD activity (red led blinking). I do not know what to do now.
